Job Overview

APTIM seeks a highly motivated Project Manager with prior consulting experience to participate in the development and management of environmental compliance projects, primarily focused on hazardous waste management of retail, logistics, and/or hospitality market clients. The successful candidate will manage environmental compliance projects from proposal through execution to invoicing. The candidate will have experience delegating work, training and mentoring junior staff, and working directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
  • Use strong hazardous waste technical acumen to support hazardous waste determinations, profiling, regulatory reporting, and a wide range of standard and nonstandard applications.
  • Support development of proposal scopes of work and cost estimates using internal cost estimating tools.
  • Manage projects to ensure the successful completion within established schedules and budgets.
  • Plan and organize projects.
  • Communicate with client and project teams.
  • Ensure quality work performance, adherence to safety and compliance to schedule and budget.
  • Manage day‑to‑day costs against budgets.
  • Manage project resources.
  • Prepare and approve project invoices.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Serve as a team lead, providing guidance and oversight to junior staff on all active projects.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with APTIM team members and clients to successfully deliver projects within designated timeframes.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a core science (geology, chemistry, physics), engineering, environmental science, or related area required.
  • 6 years related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience in hazardous waste management in the retail, logistics, and/or hospitality markets.
  • Minimum of 2 years project management experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local hazardous waste regulatory requirements including annual and biennial reporting of hazardous waste generation.
  • Prior experience or training regarding environmental compliance and related federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office apps such as Excel, Word, SharePoint Online, etc., and ability to learn other software applications.
  • Willing to work in the field and travel to complete work.
  • Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing staff and projects for the commercial client industry.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance requirements for the commercial client industry.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000 per year. Compensation depends on experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among employees.
