- Plan, design, and execute environmental projects, including Phase I and Phase II site assessments, brownfield redevelopment, regulatory compliance, and permitting
- Develop new clients and maintain existing client relationships with key decision makers and influencers
- Oversee project resources, client invoicing, scope, and budgets
- Maintain project schedules and meet deliverable deadlines
- Prepare client contracts, statements of qualifications, and fee proposals
- Communicate ideas and concepts to coworkers and clients on sensitive and complex matters
- Act as client liaison, understand client needs, solve problems, and capture opportunities
- Conduct site visits and complete fieldwork as needed
- Perform project and client quality control
- Maintain understanding of environmental markets, clients, technology trends, and advancements
- Attend meetings, community events, and industry events
- Research industry trends and share information with the team
- Supervise direct reports
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, Ecology, Physical Science with an emphasis in environmental engineering, or a related degree (ideally)
- Seven or more years of environmental or project management experience, preferably at a professional consulting firm
- Proven track record of managing multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of state regulatory agency guidance, including Illinois Leaking Underground Storage Tank and Site Remediation Programs
- Project Management certification
- Professional Geologist License in Illinois
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software and tools
- Ability to travel to client sites and firm locations
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers at all levels
- Highly motivated self-starter with a solutions mindset
