Job summary

State of California seeks an Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory) to lead the LEA certification and solid waste inspection programs in the Department of Resources Recycling & Recovery. The role oversees audits, certifications, and enforcement activities to protect public health and the environment, with responsibilities for policy development and staff oversight.

The position reports to the Chief and is office-centered with potential hybrid telework for eligible California residents.

Qualifications

• Experience managing environmental programs.
• Knowledge of solid waste, landfill, and compliance and enforcement actions.
• Ability to lead and direct staff and to develop policies and programs.
• Ability to facilitate highly sensitive communication among multidisciplinary staff including engineers, scientists, geologists attorneys and IT professionals.
• Knowledge of state budgeting, personnel, program management, productivity and training.
• Integrity, initiative, dependability, tact, and sound judgment.
