Job summary

Apex Companies in Signal Hill, CA, seeks an Environmental Principal to lead and grow our environmental practice in the Los Angeles metropolitan market. The role centers on technical leadership, growing the team, and delivering high-value solutions to clients. You will build long-term client relationships, mentor staff, ensure QA/QC, and travel to client sites as needed.

A BS/MS in a related field and P.G./P.E. licensure are required, with 10–15+ years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of environmental consulting with progressive responsibility and leadership.
• BS in Geology or Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field; MS preferred.
• Licensure as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Established client relationships and active regional or national network.
• Strong technical background in Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, or related areas.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with senior clients and regulators.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a dynamic, growth-focused leader to serve as an Environmental Principal. The role is a remote/hybrid or in office position within the Los Angeles metropolitan market.

The Role

We are seeking a technically strong, senior technical advisor and thought leader, translating complex environmental challenges into high-value solutions for clients. This role is centered on technical leadership, with a core emphasis on growing the environmental practice and team.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
• Provide subject matter expertise (SME), lead QA/QC efforts, and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
• Manage project performance with a focus on quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.
• Travel to client locations as needed for meetings and project development.

What We Are Looking For

• 10-15+ years of environmental consulting or industry experience with progressive responsibility and leadership.
• BS in Geology or Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or other related field. Master's degree is preferred.
• Licensure as Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Established client relationships and an active network within the region or with national clients.
• Strong technical background in one or more of the core disciplines: Environmental Compliance, Site Investigation/Remediation, Site Development Permitting, EHS, or Due Diligence.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for engaging with senior‑level clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of your region’s regulatory and business environment.
• Ability to mentor and train staff.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Strong safety awareness and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
• 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification.
