Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to oversee projects and environmental permitting within the Mid-Atlantic region, including the Richmond and Roanoke areas. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local permitting requirements for new developments.

You will lead project teams, manage client relationships, develop proposals, and mentor staff while delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in environmental science, planning, or engineering with 7–10+ years of permitting project experience in the Mid-Atlantic region.
• Experience across multiple market sectors including electric utility, renewable, and oil & gas pipelines is a plus.
• Knowledge of wetlands, endangered species, stormwater, and NEPA regulations is desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of multiple environmental permitting projects and manage project teams.
• Develop proposals, cost estimates, and client presentations; maintain relationships with clients.
• Mentor and guide less experienced staff and foster career development.
