Langan is seeking anEnvironmental Permitting & Compliance Engineer or Scientistto join its collaborative team inCleveland, Ohio.This individual will serve a key function in supporting compliance projects anticipated to involve air permitting, industrial wastewater and stormwater permitting and planning, storage tank registrations, compliance evaluations, waste management, multi-media environmental compliance audits, development of spill prevention and contingency plans, greenhouse gas emission estimates and reporting, waste minimization planning and reporting, and technical report writing.
Manage and support multi-media environmental permitting and compliance programs across air, water, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, storage tanks, and EPCRA requirements;
Provide regulatory interpretation and strategy, permitting, and compliance support fora wide variety of clients;
Prepare andsubmitenvironmental permit applications, compliance reports, emissions inventories, and technical documentation to support regulatory obligations and operationalobjectives;
Conduct environmental compliance audits, inspections, gap assessments, and program reviews to evaluate regulatory compliance andidentifyimprovement opportunities;
Develop and support implementation and management of various monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans/programs (SPCC, FRP, SPR, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, TOMP, Slug Control, etc.);
Provide field support, site assessments, sampling, and technicalassistancefor ongoing client operations and environmental projects;
Provide support for air projects, focusing on emissions calculations,permitpreparation, NESHAP/NSPS compliance, annual reporting (Title V, GHG, etc.), emissions monitoring, stationary and mobile source air modeling, and other air quality related tasks;
Provide regulatorystrategy, permitting, and compliance support for water resources programs nationwide, including NPDES and general permits, drinking water compliance, surface water and groundwater withdrawal permitting, wastewater and pretreatment programs, and water reuse initiatives; and
Perform other duties, fieldwork,samplingand special projects as assigned.
BS degree inenvironmentalscienceor engineering, or closely related field(Master’sdegree preferred);
2 to 5 years of experience focused on regulatory compliance and environmental permitting; consulting experience preferred;
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;
Working knowledge of MS Word,Exceland other related software (Air Modeling Software, AERMOD, ProMax, a plus);
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends; and
Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
