Job summary

MP Materials, based in California, seeks an Environmental Specialist (Lands) to drive compliance programs for lands and wildlife management. You will develop strategic plans to meet federal, state, and local water quality standards, and lead reporting, audits, and training efforts across the site.

The role emphasizes minimizing environmental impact, maintaining land use records, and supporting sustainability initiatives while staying current with CalOSHA and MSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental or environmental related discipline preferred (e.g., environmental science, geology, or civil/environmental engineering).
• 4+ years’ experience in environmental or environmental related fields.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and actively update environmental compliance programs in lands and wildlife management.
• Maintain accurate records of land use, mine reclamation, and mine disturbance.
• Prepare and submit required reports (annual mine reports, land use reports, wildlife reports, cultural reports).
• Prepare and submit reports for mine reclamation planning.
• Support environmental assessments for new or modified processes and projects (construction, expansion).
• Conduct internal compliance audits and corrective action follow-ups.
• Develop and deliver training for employees, contractors, and supervisors.
• Track changes in land use and wildlife regulations and communicate impacts to management.
• Support company sustainability initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and improve compliance performance.
• Perform and document environmental, health, and safety audits.
• Develop understanding of CalOSHA and MSHA regulations as well as MP Materials Health and Safety Practices.
