Job summary

Earthjustice seeks an associate attorney to join our Community Partnership Program in Los Angeles. This three-year role partners with frontline communities to litigate environmental justice issues and build capacity for public interest advocacy.

As part of a national CPP team, you will investigate, research, draft pleadings, and collaborate with experts and communities to address hazardous waste and air pollution concerns. Hybrid in‑person work required.

Qualifications

• JD required or equivalent law degree.
• Admission to the California State Bar is required.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and factual research and prepare memoranda on issues related to ongoing or potential cases.
• Review administrative records and technical documents.
• Draft motions, briefs, and other litigation documents in support of litigation.
• Participate in proceedings before federal and state courts and agencies.
• Work with clients and experts and coordinate media outreach.
• Supervise law students who work as interns or clerks.
