Job summary

Terracon's Omaha, NE office offers an exciting internship program to support our Environmental service line. You will receive 40-hour safety training before starting and be paired with a mentor for career planning and skill development.

You will gain hands-on experience in field testing, sampling, data collection, and report preparation, with opportunities to network within a cohort of interns and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

• Currently high school graduate and enrolled in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Biology or similar program with a 3.0 GPA or better.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on field assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform sampling or testing as directed.
• Assist field and/or office personnel.
• Transport equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices.
• Support technicians or professional staff on routine tasks.
• Progressively take on training and responsibility in work.

General Responsibilities:

Terracon's Omaha, NE office has an exciting intern program to support our Environmental service line.

In this official program,you will take part in an exciting, fun and meaningful work experience asyou work along-side some of the brightest minds and state of the art technology in the environmental consulting industry. You will not only learn and advance technically but will also be provided with opportunities for professional development. You will be assigned a leader/mentor inthe environmental consulting field. The mentor will provide help you with career planning along with technical skill development. You will learn how our line of business interacts with the client. You will learn what consulting is all about!

To ensure you are prepared for the internship, Terracon will provide each intern with 40-hr safety training prior to starting. We will pay for your time going through an on-line 40-hr training class as well as the class.

You will also have the opportunity to participate in a cohort. The cohort is a way for you to connect with other interns across the company, and learn about their experiences. This is also a great way for you to start building your professional network!

Our summer concludes with a fun and engaging summit where you will meet leaders, learn more about how to grow a career at Terracon, and build stronger relationships with your peers.

In this program, you will work in the office and will also have opportunities to experience field testing and inspection activities as well as other field activities. Your experiences will include learning, understanding, and performing services related to:

• Field safety and safe work practices

• All aspects of our field work capabilities

• Understanding sampling and field testing procedures

• Data acquisition

• Data review

• Report preparation

• Communication of test results (internal and external)

• Quality management system and procedures

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

You can expect to:
•Perform sampling or testing as directed.
•Provide assistance to other field and/or office personnel
•Transport equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set-up.
•Assists technicians or professional staff on routine tasks
•Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work

Requirements:

• High school diploma and currently enrolled in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Bioligy or similar program and obtained a 3.0 GPA or better
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required
