Job summary

Forensic Analytical Consulting Services in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Field Technician to perform on-site surveys, inspections, abatement oversight and monitoring. You will prepare field reports related to industrial hygiene, asbestos and microbial projects, and may lead projects when IH Field Technicians are assigned.

Candidates should have 3+ years of field experience, a BS in a relevant science, and CSST certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s of Science in industrial hygiene, health and safety, biological or physical science or equivalent experience.
• California Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) certification.
• 3+ years of field technician experience conducting surveys, inspections, and assessments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on projects when Environmental Health Specialists are assigned.
• Communicate vital project information to the Project Manager, ensuring coordination and progress tracking.
• Conduct thorough reviews of contractor Certifications, medicals, etc. to ensure abatement compliance.
• Act as a point of contact with regulatory agents during site inspections.
• Adapt the scope of work in the field to changing conditions.
• Identify and secure necessary tools and equipment.
• Perform air sampling, clearances, and on-site analysis of air samples for abatement.
• Obtain and track project numbers for accurate record-keeping.
• Serve as a liaison between client and Project Manager or contractor.
• Represent the organization in the field with a professional presence.
• Report progress and provide technical input to the Project Manager.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff.

Primary Function

Perform on-site surveys, inspections, assessments, abatement oversight and monitoring. Position also requires preparation of written of field reports associated with industrial hygiene, asbestos and microbial projects. Take lead on projects if Industrial Hygiene Field Technicians are assigned. Carry out and execute project that is developed with client, handed down or assigned by Project Manager.

• Conduct thorough reviews of contractor’s personnel certifications, medicals, etc. to ensure compliance with abatement requirements.
• Act as a point of contact and meet with regulatory agents in the event of surprise site inspections.
• Adapt the scope of work as needed in the field to accommodate actual conditions or changes that arise during project progression.
• Identify and secure the necessary tools and equipment required for each project.
• Abatement: Perform air sampling, clearances, and on-site analysis of air samples while adhering to quality control requirements.
• Obtain and track project numbers for accurate record-keeping.
• Serve as a liaison between the client and Project Manager or contractor, ensuring smooth communication and timely resolution of issues.
• As a representative of our organization when performing field work, maintaining a knowledgeable and professional presence.
• Report progress of project and provide technical input to Project Manager.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff members, sharing your expertise and contributing to their professional development.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Field Technician conducting field surveys, inspections, and assessments.
• Must possess valid certifications required by state to perform assigned work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new software and systems

Education/Credential

• Bachelor’s of Science in industrial hygiene, health and safety, biological or physical science or equivalent experience.
• California Site Surveillance Technician (CSST)

QualificationsPhysical & Work Requirements

• Physical ability to stoop, kneel, climb, crawl, walk, and stand for extended periods in varied work environments while performing sampling activities
• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer for documentation and reporting
• Must be able to pass a background check, annual medical examinations, and OSHA-required respirator fit tests
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
• Ability to travel locally to assigned client and project sites
