Job summary

CAMRIS International, LLC seeks an Environmental Health Scientist to support the CDC in Atlanta, GA. The role focuses on analyzing environmental data from hazardous waste sites, evaluating data quality, and providing expert health assessments and recommendations for health consultations requested by federal, state, and local agencies, and the public.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s in Public Health with public health experience, and preferably a PhD.

Qualifications

• Must have a master's degree in public health with at least one year of experience in the public health field.
• A PhD or work towards a PhD in a related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental health principles, including exposure pathways and evaluation of potential human health impacts.
• Strong writing skills with at least 2 first-author or co-authored manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert analysis of environmental data from uncontrolled and controlled hazardous waste sites.
• Evaluate data quality, completeness, and relevance for QA/QC.
• Assess site-specific public health impacts and develop health consultation responses.
• Offer environmental health advice and recommendations regarding health impacts from hazardous substances.
• Assist with the development of public and petition health assessments.
• Appraise impact of chemicals on exposure pathways and evaluate contamination cleanup procedures.
• Attend technical assistance site visits and public meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are seeking an Environmental Health Scientist to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. Responsibilities

• Provide expert analysis of environmental data associated with uncontrolled hazardous waste sites and controlled hazardous waste facilities.
• Evaluate environmental data for quality assurance/quality control, completeness, and relevance.
• Provide scientific expertise to assess site-specific public health impacts of identified hazardous substances and develop appropriate responses for health consultations requested by Federal, state and local agencies, and the public.
• Provide environmental health and technical advice and appropriate recommendations regarding potential human health impacts resulting from exposure or potential exposure to hazardous substances.
• Assist with the development of public and petition health assessments.
• Based on analysis, appraise the impact of chemicals at sites on exposure pathways and evaluate proposed contamination cleanup procedures and alternatives.
• Attend technical assistance site visits and public meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have a master's degree in public health with at least one year of experience in the public health field. A PhD or work towards a PhD in a related field (epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, etc.) is preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental health principles, including exposure pathways and the evaluation of potential human health impacts associated with hazardous substances and environmental contamination. Ability to analyze and interpret environmental data, assess data quality and relevance, and translate scientific findings into clear, evidence-based public health recommendations.
• Must demonstrate strong writing skills (i.e., at least 2 published first-author or co-authored manuscripts (first-author manuscripts highly preferred) in peer reviewed journals)).
• Must have intermediate or advanced experience using statistical software (SAS, STATA, or R).
• Previous experience using data from surveillance systems (NHANES, BRFSS, NHIS), vital statistics, or large healthcare datasets (electronic health records, claims or administrative data) is highly preferred.
