Job summary

Base Power Company is seeking an EHS Technician to lead on-floor safety and compliance across Austin-area sites. You will own RCRA hazardous waste programs, respond to incidents, and support safety training with engineers, production leads, and field crews.

You will partner with the EHS team to develop and maintain programs, perform inspections, and sustain a culture of safe operations in a dynamic startup environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or field operations environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926; RCRA hazardous waste; EPA/TCEQ regulations.
• Electrical experience required; familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage systems or NFPA 855 is a plus.
• Hands-on hazmat management, emergency response, and exposure monitoring; clear communicator with crews/leadership.
• Forklift-certified (or obtainable within 30 days); valid Texas driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day OSHA, TCEQ, RCRA, EPA, and DOT compliance across facility and job site inspections, corrective actions, and program management.
• Provide active floor and field presence: identify hazards, coach safe behaviors, deliver training, and build a safety culture.
• Manage the full RCRA hazardous waste program storage, labeling, satellite accumulation, drum logs, and disposal contractor coordination.
• Respond to EHS incidents and emergencies: activate procedures, collect preliminary findings, and support root cause investigations.
• Support air permit, SWPPP, and SPCC inspection cycles; develop JHAs and PPE assessments; maintain EHS docs and databases.

About the Role

As an EHS technician, you'll be at the center of our safety program: on the floor, in the field, and deep in the compliance work that keeps our people safe and our operations running. You'll partner with engineers, production leads, and field crews across Austin and beyond. This role sits inside a high-ownership EHS team where you'll have meaningful responsibility from day one running RCRA hazardous waste programs, owning inspection cycles, responding to incidents, and building the kind of floor-level safety culture that actually has an impact.

What You’ll Do

What You'll Bring

The EHS team exists to make sure that building the grid doesn't cost anyone their health or safety. We work on everything from OSHA compliance and hazardous waste management to battery system safety and emergency response across manufacturing, warehousing, and field installation.
