Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Valley, NE is seeking an EHS Specialist to drive continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs at the onsite facility. The role partners with site and regional leadership to implement EHS goals and manage incidents, audits, and permits.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of EHS experience (or 5+ years of related work) and a degree, with strong collaboration skills and experience in heavy manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of EHS experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience implementing and maintaining EHS programs.
• Strong decision-making and collaboration skills.
• Ability to identify, manage, and reduce EHS risks.

Responsibilities

• Support and improve EHS programs, standards, and initiatives.
• Partner with site and regional leadership to implement EHS goals.
• Manage EHS data including incidents, audits, and permits.
• Assist with risk assessments, hazard identification, and corrective actions.
• Facilitate safety committees and employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
• Support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Collect environmental data and assist with regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate EHS training, emergency preparedness, and continuity efforts.
• Serve as liaison between operations, HR, risk management, and EHS leadership.
• Complete the Valmont EHS Specialist curriculum within three months of hire.

Brief Summary Of The Position

The EHS Specialist supports Valmont’s environmental, health, and safety strategy by driving continuous improvement initiatives, implementing site-level EHS programs, and aligning local activities with enterprise-wide EHS goals. This role helps identify and reduce safety risks, supports compliance efforts, leads EHS initiatives and investigations, and partners with employees and leadership to promote a strong safety culture.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of EHS-related experience, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience implementing and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to support teams in identifying, managing, and reducing EHS risks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in heavy manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA VPP, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
• Experience with enterprise-wide EHS database systems.
• Background working within multinational organizations and progressive EHS programs.
