Job summary

Siemens is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern for a 12-week summer program based in Wendell, NC. You’ll work on-site full-time supporting EHS initiatives, incident response, inspections, and record keeping within the Electrification and Automation division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure.

Qualified candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in EHS or related fields, must be within 50 miles of Wendell, and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field and nearing completion.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time (40 hours per week) for the 12-week internship.
  • Located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC; no relocation.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Enrollment must continue during the assignment.

As an intern with the Electrification and Automation (EA) division of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting power distribution systems that keep the world running today, while also being exposed to our Future Grids technologies that are shaping the power systems of tomorrow - all within a collaborative, impact‑driven environment.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our Environmental Health & Safety Internship beginning in May or June 2027. This position will be based at our Wendell, North Carolina office location.
You’ll make an impact by:
  • Supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives across the facility.
  • Incorporating Siemens biodiversity initiatives into site environmental programs and supporting regulatory compliance activities.
  • Attending daily operations tier meetings and responding to environmental and safety incidents.
  • Conducting EHS inspections and supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Supporting training record management, document updates, incident trend tracking, and other EHS projects.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences (OEHS), Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Safety Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Environmental Engineering, or a related field and approaching completion of their degree program.
  • Ability to work on-site full‑time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the 12‑week summer internship.
  • Eligible candidates must be located within 50 miles of Wendell, NC, as this role does not provide relocation support.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • This internship is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career Development Program opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with incident data analysis.
  • Experience supporting compliance activities in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Interest in environmental compliance, workplace safety, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

You’ll Benefit From

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 per hour for first time Interns or $25.50 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
