Job summary

Triumvirate Environmental is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Associate for our Midwest team in the greater Chicago area. You will assist clients in protecting employees, contractors, and customers while supporting a robust EH&S operation onsite at client facilities.

Under the guidance of the client EH&S staff, you will help design, implement, and evaluate safety programs, conduct trainings, and assist with hazard identification and reporting. A bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to various client settings and work locations.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to pass MVR and background checks.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, Monday–Friday with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace safety inspections and evaluate PPE use per regulations.
  • Participate in inspections of machinery and equipment safety features.
  • Identify hazards and help implement control measures while updating SOPs.
  • Investigate accidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports and complete OSHA recordkeeping forms.
  • Communicate with client personnel to address EH&S issues.
  • Deliver routine EH&S trainings such as orientation and hazard communication.
  • Assist in developing environmental and occupational health and safety policies.
  • Support hazardous waste programs including handling, shipments, and recordkeeping.

Environmental Health & Safety Associate

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Associate to join our Midwest team.

As an EH&S Associate you will assist clients in protecting their employees, contractors and customers and to safeguard the work and surrounding environment.

Working under the direction of the client EH&S staff, the EH&S Associate will help to design, implement, and evaluate safety programs, testing and inspecting the operating environment, conducting training, and act as a delivery resource to support a robust EH&S operation.

This position reports to a Regional EHS Director. This role is onsite at assigned clients in the greater Chicago area.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct workplace safety inspections according to a defined procedure, evaluating the use of personal protective equipment, such as respirators, respirators, protective eyewear, or hardhats, according to applicable regulations. These inspections will engage workers and observing their work.
  • Participate in the safety inspections and examinations of machinery and equipment, such as lifting devices, machine guards, or scaffolding.
  • Identify and measure potential accident and health hazards, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas‑air mixture, using calibrated scientific equipment and/or collecting samples according to a defined operating procedure. Then help implement appropriate control measures while updating standard operating procedures, such as adjustments to ventilation systems.
  • Help investigate accidents and injuries, identifying causes and recommending remedial action.
  • Write reports, including accident or ergonomic reports, and enter information on required Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordkeeping forms.
  • Communicate with client personnel regarding workplace environmental health and safety issues, communicating and implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine EH&S safety trainings such as new employee orientation, hazard communication, and fork truck operation.
  • Assist in the development of specific areas of environmental and occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or updating policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Support the hazardous waste and regulated medical waste programs including some waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material handling, inspections, and record keeping.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field, such as Biology, Chemistry or Engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self‑motivated
  • Willingness to work in a variety of industry settings, client cultures and work locations
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening and criminal background check
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday) and overtime as necessary
Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification

Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.

$27 — $30 USD
