Job Description Position Summary: The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) at Colorado State University (CSU) is hiring two Environmental GIS Support Supervisors to support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Environmental GIS project. The project provides GIS support services and maintains 73 environmental data layers for more than 100 U.S. Air Force and Space Force installations. Each supervisor will oversee approximately 8-12 off-campus Environmental GIS Support Analysts, provide technical leadership, coordinate project activities, and support data quality and standardization. These full-time, fixed-term positions are based at the project’s Technical Support Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. Candidates living within commuting distance of the following areas may be considered for fully remote work, with occasional travel required: Cheyenne, Wyoming; Colorado’s I-25 and I-70 corridors, including Fort Collins, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Grand Junction; Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California (Lancaster/Palmdale preferred); Santa Barbara, California (including Lompoc and Santa Maria); San Francisco and Sacramento, California; Shreveport, Louisiana; Omaha, Nebraska; Las Vegas, Nevada; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; San Antonio, Texas; and Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for all new hires). Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance. Furthermore, candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment by CSU. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the proposed start date. Periodically travel to U.S. Air and Space Force Installations as necessary for data collection and development for up to a week in duration. This position may require fieldwork to obtain environmental data, which includes possibly walking long distances in adverse terrain and weather conditions, carrying all necessary supplies and equipment (less than 45 lbs). Relocation expenses are NOT available for this position.
