Atlas is seeking an Environmental Geologist / Hydrogeologist II to support subsurface investigation and remediation projects in the Los Angeles area. You will collect field data, transform it into clear technical findings, and support decision-making for protecting communities.

The role requires 3+ years in environmental consulting, Phase I/II experience, and a strong safety mindset with 40-hour HAZWOPER certification; willingness to travel up to 50–70%.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of environmental consulting experience including field work, sampling, data evaluation and technical writing.
• HAZWOPER 40-hr with annual 8-hr refreshers.
• Experience supporting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (data collection and report writing).
• Clear safety mindset and ability to travel up to ~50–70% across Southern CA.

• Log soil samples with thorough field notes, photos and supporting documentation.
• Prepare complete chain-of-custody forms and record measurements on approved forms.

Job Description

As an Atlas Environmental Geologist / Hydrogeologist II, you’ll help deliver subsurface investigation and remediation work across the Los Angeles, CA area—collecting high-quality field data, turning it into clear technical findings, and supporting environmental decisions that protect people and places. This role is intended to support subsurface investigation needs in the LA Basin, helping fill a key project gap (including the RELLC Dominguez Channel effort)

Core Responsibilities

• Collect soil and groundwater samples for subsurface assessment and remediation projects, following site-specific plans and safe work practices.
• Log soil samples accurately and maintain thorough, well-organized field notes, photos, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare complete chain-of-custody forms and record survey or field measurements on approved forms to support defensible results.
• Analyze and summarize field and laboratory data, then contribute to clear reports with sound conclusions and recommendations.
• Travel locally and regionally to project sites using a company vehicle and represent Atlas professionally with clients, partners, and contractors.
• Model a safety-first mindset by implementing Atlas health and safety requirements (including HAZWOPER expectations) and promoting proactive, continuous improvement.

You’ll thrive here if you have

• 3+ years of environmental consulting experience that includes a mix of field work, sampling, data evaluation, and technical writing.
• Working knowledge of due diligence, site investigation, remediation, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance work.
• Experience supporting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (data collection and report writing).
• A demonstrated commitment to health and safety requirements and field readiness (40-hr HAZWOPER with 8-hr annual refresher).
• Strong communication skills, solid attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint).
• The ability to manage multiple priorities—working independently when needed and collaborating well as part of a team.
• Availability to travel ~50–70% and residence in Southern California.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and motor vehicle background check (for driving to project sites).
