Job summary

JARBO is seeking an Environmental Field Technician for a year-long sewer flow monitoring project in Lemoyne, PA and the Harrisburg area. The role involves installing and maintaining flow and rainfall monitoring equipment, inspecting sewer manholes, and documenting field data.

Candidates without direct experience are welcome for outdoor work and safety-conscious individuals. We offer a stable 40-hour work week with limited overtime, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for annual pay

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AS or BS welcomed in related fields.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to detect, resolve and report equipment issues; GIS experience preferred.
• Strong computer literacy; GIS experience advantageous.
• Able to perform all physical requirements of the position.
• Preferred field data collection experience and basic hand/power tool knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Installation of flow monitoring systems within sewer lines.
• Installation of rainfall monitoring equipment.
• Input data into software systems including GIS.
• Inspect sewer manholes manually or with telemonitoring equipment.
• Operate and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Document inspections promptly with detailed field notes.
• Follow safety requirements and assist teammates.
• All other duties as assigned.

The Environmental Field Technician supports a year-long sewer flow monitoring project in Lemoyne, PA and the greater Harrisburg area, collecting data used to improve municipal water infrastructure. This entry-level field role installs and maintains flow and rainfall monitoring equipment, inspects sewer manholes, and documents field data. Candidates without direct experience are welcome if they enjoy outdoor work, don't mind getting dirty, and are comfortable entering confined spaces.

Responsibility Summary - Environmental Field Technician:

• Installation of flow monitoring systems within sewer lines.
• Installation of rainfall monitoring equipment.
• Input data into software systems which may include geographic information system software (GIS).
• Inspect sewer manholes manually or with telemonitoring equipment.
• Operate and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Accurately document inspections in a timely manner with detailed field notes.
• Adhere to all the safety requirements of the position while assisting team members to do the same.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualification Summary - Environmental Field Technician:

• High school diploma required; AS or BS degrees in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or a related degree program welcomed
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with the ability to operate a company vehicle
• Ability to detect, resolve and report equipment issues (strong electrical and mechanical aptitude preferred)
• Strong computer literacy with the ability to effectively utilize commonly used computer software programs (experience with GIS strongly preferred)
• Ability to perform all of the physical requirements of position
• Preferred experience/knowledge with field data collection
• Preferred hand and/or power tool experience for installs and maintenance related work
