Job summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our Parsippany, NJ team. You will assist in environmental fieldwork, collecting data and samples, and collaborate with site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architecture professionals on landmark land development projects.

Opportunities exist to support Geotechnical, Natural Resources, HAZMAT, and Survey teams. Primary work focuses in New Jersey and New York with potential nationwide support across Langan’s offices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Hazwoper Certification and annual refresher requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • 2+ years’ related experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with environmental monitoring (water, air, asbestos, lead) using field instruments.
  • Operate and maintain remedial systems (drills, pumps, electrical equipment).
  • Assemble and maintain field equipment; inspect and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Collect water samples from streams/lakes and other sources to assess pollution.
  • Provide geotechnical oversight for construction projects and investigations.
  • Support survey team field efforts.
  • Provide natural resources field support in wetlands delineation and soils mapping.
  • Become certified to inspect Asbestos Containing Materials remediations.
  • Produce timely, detailed service reports.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seekinganEnvironmental Field Technicianto join its collaborative team inParsippany, NJ. This individual will serve a key function in assisting in environmental field work by collecting field data and samples. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of top‑notch professionals in a variety of geographic areas and regulatory programs, and to collaborate and learn from our multi‑disciplinary team of site/civil, geotechnical, survey, and landscape architect professionals on landmark land development projects. The role will additionally provide opportunities to support our Geotechnical, Natural Resources, HAZMAT, and Survey teams. The role will support projects primarily in New Jersey and New York with potential to support projects throughout the US for Langan’s national offices.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assistwith conducting various types of environmental monitoring (water, air, asbestos, lead) using basic field instruments;
  • Operateand maintainvarious remedial systems; such as drills, pumps, electrical equipment;
  • Assembleand maintainfield equipment and systems; inspectequipment andtroubleshootas necessary;
  • Collectwater samples from streams and lakes, raw, semi‑processed or processed water, industrial waste water, or water from other sources to assess pollution problem;
  • Provide geotechnical oversight for construction projects and investigations for our geotechnical professionals;
  • Provide support for survey team field efforts to our team of survey professionals;
  • Provide natural resources field support to our team of scientists in wetlands delineation, soils classifications, and mapping of wetlands/waterways;
  • Become certified to inspect and perform inspections of Asbestos Containing Materials remediations;
  • Producetimely and detailed service reports; and
  • Performother duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred;
  • Hazwoper Certification, maintenance of annual physical and respirator fit test, annual Hazwoper 8 hr. re-certification, as required;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
  • 2+ years’ prior related experience preferred;
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task effectively;
  • Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing; and
  • Ability to travel to various job sites and spend most, if not all of the work day on‑site, as-required.

Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
