Job summary

Republic Services is seeking field technicians to support hazardous waste cleanup, decontamination, and emergency response tasks. You will follow supervisor guidance, perform cleanup operations, and prioritize health and safety in every task.

Qualifications

• Must pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing.
• Must pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening.
• OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training required.
• TWIC clearance may be required and must be obtained within first 45 days of employment.
• Able to read, write, and understand English and follow verbal/written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Remediation of cleanup involving hazardous waste and materials under supervision.
• Ensure health and safety is priority and adhere to safe work practices.
• Perform tasks such as confined space entry, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, and high-pressure washing.
• Work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays; on-call for emergencies; travel may be required.
• Operate under adverse conditions and wear PPE; lift >50 lbs as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that scheduled and Emergency Response Calls are answered in a timely manner Field Technicians are responsible for clean ups, spills, COVID and Hazmat Decon work and other duties delegated by management that are within the scope of work.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform work under the direct guidance of a Supervisor or Foreman involving the remediation of cleanup regarding hazardous waste and materials.

Ensures that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner Daily work will involve confined space entry such as manholes, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping and shoveling, high pressure washing and various other remedial activities.

Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. “On-Call” based on the rotating “On-Call” schedule for Emergency Response. May require out of town travel. Length of travel will be dependent on service center and on-going projects Ability to work under adverse conditions (heat & cold) Physically able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary and lift > 50lbs routinely Accountability and punctuality Preforms other, related tasks as assigned

Sustainability Innovation

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation’s first integrated plastics recycling facility. These innovative sites process rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America. Our customers are increasingly looking for decarbonization solutions, and we are leveraging our network of landfills to meet that need.
