Job summary

Univar Solutions in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Wastewater Transfer Operator to safely move wastewater from onsite storage to DOT-approved tanker trucks. You’ll monitor flows, perform line clearings, and help ensure regulatory compliance at customer sites.

As part of a field-based role, you’ll collect samples, complete load tickets, coordinate schedules, operate equipment, and maintain accurate records while following RCRA, DOT, and EPA safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (science background preferred).
• Hands-on knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (required).
• Ability to obtain CDL and additional certifications (e.g., CHMM).
• Strong safety focus and PPE compliance.
• Outdoor/field-based role at customer sites.
• Requires use of PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Transfer wastewater from onsite storage to tanker trucks and operate related equipment.
• Monitor flow rates, tank levels, and prevent overfills.
• Collect wastewater samples and complete load tickets, chain-of-custody records.
• Coordinate truck staging, loading schedules, and site flow.
• Conduct site inspections and support waste disposal in compliance with regulations.
• Prepare hazardous/non-hazardous waste shipments and maintain inventory records.
• Ensure compliance with RCRA, DOT, EPA and company safety standards.
• Operate forklifts and assist with loading/unloading as needed.

Primary Purpose

Responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient transfer of wastewater from onsite storage to DOT-approved tanker trucks, supporting data center operations and maintaining environmental and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Wastewater Transfer & Equipment Operation

• Connect hoses, pumps, and transfer systems to load wastewater into tanker trucks
• Monitor flow rates, tank levels, and capacities to prevent overfills
• Perform line clearing and equipment shutdown procedures
• Inspect and maintain pumps, hoses, fittings, and containment systems

Sampling & Documentation

• Collect wastewater samples per site and disposal requirements
• Complete load tickets, manifests, and chain-of-custody records
• Accurately track volumes, waste types, and transport details

Logistics & Coordination

• Coordinate truck staging, loading schedules, and site flow
• Communicate with drivers, dispatch, and site teams to meet daily targets

Site Operations & Compliance

• Conduct site inspections and support waste consolidation and disposal
• Coordinate with TSDFs on waste profiles, sampling, and scheduling
• Prepare hazardous/non-hazardous waste shipments and maintain inventory records
• Ensure compliance with all RCRA, DOT, EPA, and company safety standards
• Operate forklifts and assist with loading/unloading as needed
