This Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation (SIR) team supporting Oil & Gas Pipeline projects across the Midwest. The location for this role is in our Kansas City office. This is a seller doer position that combines technical leadership, project delivery, client relationship management, and business development.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and expanding SIR services for pipeline operators and energy clients throughout the Midwest, supporting projects related to pipeline integrity, environmental compliance, site assessment, remediation, and legacy liability management. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, scientists, and environmental professionals across the region and nationally to deliver integrated “One WSP” solutions.

Your Impact

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Lead and manage complex Site Investigation & Remediation projects supporting Oil & Gas pipeline systems, including:
    1. Environmental site assessments and due diligence
    2. Subsurface investigations (soil, groundwater, sediment, vapor)
    3. Remedial design, implementation, and oversight
    4. Spill response, release investigations, and corrective actions
    5. Pipeline compliance and integrity support initiatives
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure work meets state and federal regulatory requirements across Midwest jurisdictions.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for SIR services related to energy and pipeline assets.

Client & Market Leadership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to pipeline operators, energy companies, and industrial clients.
  • Support and lead business development efforts, including client strategy, proposal development, scope definition, and pricing.
  • Identify opportunities to expand SIR services across pipeline life cycle phases—from pre-construction and operations to decommissioning and remediation.
  • Collaborate with WSP’s Energy, Earth & Environment, and advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Financial & Delivery Performance

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Oversee subcontractors and field staff, ensuring safe, compliant, and high quality execution.
  • Apply WSP’s QA/QC, health and safety, and risk management standards consistently.

People & Team Leadership

  • Mentor and develop engineers, geologists, and scientists within the SIR team.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to talent development and workforce planning to support continued growth of SIR pipeline services in the Midwest.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related discipline.
  • Environmental Scientists and Geologists are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in Site Investigation & Remediation, environmental consulting, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Oil & Gas pipeline, energy, or industrial clients.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations applicable to pipeline projects in Midwest states.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and client facing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG).
  • Experience with pipeline spill/release investigations, corrective action programs, or integrity related environmental work.
  • Seller doer experience with demonstrated success in business development or client growth.
  • Experience working across multiple Midwest states and regulatory frameworks.
