Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Environmental Services Engineering Intern to support design, data collection and project assistance across markets in Texas. Responsibilities include filing, data entry, preparing presentations, and assisting lead engineers on assigned tasks.

Ideal candidates will have a 3.0+ GPA, active campus involvement, strong communication, and a drive to learn within environmental, civil or chemical engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Description

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:

Environmental Services

The Environmental Services group is responsible for the full life cycle of infrastructure development, from permitting new projects to the remediation of contaminated soil, groundwater and emerging contaminants. This includes support for municipal, state and federal government clients, along with clients in the transportation, manufacturing, industrial, oil and gas, chemical and utility sectors.

  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.

  • Assist with responses to general questions.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.

  • Present solutions to concerns.

  • Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.
