Kinder Morgan is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support pipeline, terminal, storage and midstream operations throughout Kinder Morgan. The successful candidate will serve as the Engineer of Record for SPCC Plans and provide support in environmental compliance, permitting, due diligence, waste management, and project management.

This senior role requires a PE license, at least 10 years of environmental engineering experience in the energy sector, and the ability to travel about 30%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Active PE registrations in multiple states where Kinder Morgan operates strongly preferred, with ability to obtain additional registrations as needed.

What We Are Looking For

Environmental Engineer to support pipeline, terminal, storage and midstream operations throughout Kinder Morgan. What You Will Do

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Engineer of Record for SPCC Plans under 40 CFR Part 112.
  • Develop, certify, review, implement, and update SPCC Plans for applicable facilities.
  • Provide regulatory compliance support in the areas of Waste, Water, and SPCC.
  • Support environmental permitting activities and compliance obligations.
  • Provide environmental support for capital projects and operations.
  • Support spill response, remediation projects, inspections, and regulatory interactions.
  • Manage environmental consultants and technical studies as needed.
  • Provide leadership on environmental risk management and compliance initiatives.

What You Need

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Active PE registrations in multiple states where Kinder Morgan operates strongly preferred, with ability to obtain additional registrations as needed.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental engineering, compliance audits, environmental permitting and compliance support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), environmental due diligence, and project management.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record for SPCC Plans and preparing, certifying, and updating SPCC Plans.
  • Energy sector experience required, including pipeline, terminal, storage, midstream, or oil and gas operations. Direct Kinder Morgan experience is considered a significant value-added qualification.
  • Travel estimated at approximately 30% overnight.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently.
