Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking an Engineer or Specialist to join the Environmental Compliance Assurance team, supporting the EMS and Enablon as part of the Environmental Affairs organization. The role partners with subject matter experts, facility personnel, and consultants to ensure regulatory requirements are consistently executed across Georgia Power.

Responsibilities include sustaining Enablon, improving data quality, developing reports, and delivering user training while contributing to EMS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology, data science, MIS or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting environmental compliance programs and information systems.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulatory programs (air, water, waste).
  • Experience with information systems or technology-enabled processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support Enablon day-to-day sustainment and continuous improvement.
  • Develop reports and dashboards using Enablon data to aid leadership reporting.
  • Provide front-line user support and coordinate with consultants on issues.
  • Create job aids, guidance, and training resources for Enablon users.
  • Assist EMS and compliance assurance by improving processes, data quality, and training materials.

Position Summary

Georgia Power’s Environmental Affairs organization is seeking an Engineer or Specialist to join the Environmental Compliance Assurance team. This team supports Georgia Power’s Environmental Management System (EMS) and the sustainment and improvement of Enablon, Georgia Power’s Environmental Management Information System (EMIS). This role is designed for a candidate with direct experience working with environmental regulations who also has a passion for business process improvement, data quality, user support, and technology. The successful candidate will partner with environmental subject matter experts, facility personnel, and consultants to help ensure environmental regulatory requirements are consistently executed across Georgia Power.



Key Responsibilities

These Key Responsibilities are shared by the entire Compliance Assurance team. Individual responsibilities and assignments will be made based on team needs and strengths of the successful candidate.



Environmental Management Information System Support


  • Support the day-to-day sustainment and continuous improvement of the Enablon Environmental Compliance Assurance platform.

  • Partner with environmental subject matter experts to maintain accurate and useful system content, including tasks, checklists, inspections, forms, reference materials, and related compliance data.

  • Provide front-line user support, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate escalated support with consultants to help resolve system or process concerns in a timely manner.

  • Develop and maintain job aids, user guidance, and training resources for Enablon users.

  • Support functional enhancements by understanding business requirements, coordinating user testing, and helping implement practical system improvements.

  • Use Enablon data to develop reports and dashboards, improve data quality, and support leadership reporting.



Environmental Management System and Compliance Assurance Support


  • Develop and maintain a practical understanding of Georgia Power operations and how environmental requirements apply across facilities, business units, and environmental programs.

  • Build effective working relationships with Environmental Affairs subject matter experts, facility personnel, and business partners to support consistent EMS implementation and compliance assurance practices.

  • Support continuous improvement of EMS processes, documentation, performance reporting, and communication materials used by Environmental Affairs and facility teams.

  • Assist the compliance assurance field team with program support, process coordination, data review, reporting, and follow-up activities as needed.

  • Coordinate and strengthen the Environmental Affairs Training Program by helping organize training assignments, track completion, maintain training records, and develop or deliver EMS and Enablon-related training materials.

  • Support the Environmental Recordkeeping Program and help ensure environmental records remain aligned with Southern Company’s Records Information Management requirements.

  • Help translate business needs into clear process requirements, system improvements, reporting enhancements, user guidance, and training solutions.

  • Support the Company’s storm restoration and emergency response efforts as appropriate.

  • Up to 25% travel throughout the state of Georgia; occasional travel to Alabama will also be required.

  • These responsibilities represent the primary focus of the role; additional duties may be assigned based on business needs.



Job Requirements


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, biology, data science, management information systems, or a related field; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.

  • Five or more years of relevant experience supporting environmental compliance programs, information systems, data/reporting processes, or related business processes.

  • Working knowledge of environmental regulatory programs such as air, water, waste, or related environmental media.

  • Experience supporting, implementing, improving, or administering business systems, information systems, or technology-enabled processes.



Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with environmental, health, and safety information systems such as Enablon.

  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, metrics, or data visualizations using Power BI or similar tools.

  • Experience providing user support, customer support, training, change management, or process adoption support.

  • Experience coordinating projects, system enhancements, testing activities, training initiatives, or cross-functional process improvements.
