Job description

Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Project Manager to join our U.S. West Mining Team to deliver legacy mine reclamation and remediation projects.

Our role focuses on planning, execution, and delivery of projects that create lasting community benefits and sustainable water, energy, and environmental solutions.

Hybrid Work Model

The position is hybrid: on‑site collaboration three days a week combined with flexible work.

Responsibilities
  • Initiate and plan projects using disciplined project management practices (scope confirmation, WBS, schedule, risk planning, onboarding).
  • Manage execution and controls: track progress, issues, changes, and dependencies; maintain project records for traceability.
  • Coordinate communications and reporting cadence; maintain deadline control for regulatory and client reporting obligations.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors; ensure work plans and outputs follow verification pathways.
  • Support digital field data collection and standardized reporting workflows; contribute to dashboards and evidence packs.
  • Prepare deliverables and ensure they are ready for review with project director/subject matter expert approval prior to external use.
  • Escalate risks and deviations early using leading indicators and agreed thresholds to support “no surprises” delivery.
  • Close out projects with complete documentation, lessons learned, and hand‑off as required.
What you will bring to the team
  • Demonstrated experience in leading environmental field data collection, soil & groundwater investigations, and technical report preparation.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk with a structured approach.
  • Strong coordination skills across field/office resources and multi‑disciplinary technical teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; capable of producing and managing recurring reporting deliverables.
  • Ownership and follow‑through on commitments.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaborative relationships with clients and team members.
  • Leadership potential and desire to grow into larger project management responsibilities.
  • A balance of technical problem‑solving with business and project objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, Environmental, or Mining Engineering, or related field.
  • Approximately 5+ years of technical experience in environmental remediation and site assessments, report writing, data management & interpretation, project coordination, and client management.
  • Project management experience beyond day‑to‑day task management (e.g., defining scope/objectives, establishing and monitoring budgets, allocating resources, mitigating risks).
  • Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience coordinating projects, task teams, and technical work packages.
  • Exposure to project budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, or client management preferred.
  • Experience with project management systems such as project accounting software (e.g., BST, Deltek), MS Project, or Primavera P6 preferred.
  • Experience in remediation and reclamation of legacy mine sites preferred.
  • CERCLA, RCRA, or state‑led remediation program experience a plus.
  • OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification desired.
  • MSHA 24‑hour New Miner training desired, but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client meetings required.
  • PE a plus, but not required.
