Job summary

UES, a national leader in geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting, and materials testing, seeks an Environmental Engineer I to support environmental planning, design, and compliance across diverse projects. This role provides close supervision, assisting with analyses, fieldwork, and documentation.

Responsibilities include environmental site assessments, sampling, permit applications, and coordination with civil, geotechnical, and construction teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships included).
• Basic understanding of federal/state environmental regulations.

• Support preparation of technical work plans and reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation (e.g., NEPA-related documents, SWPPP, SPCC)

• Coordinate with internal teams (civil, geotechnical, construction)
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety standards
• Maintain accurate field notes and project records
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or ability to obtain


• Familiarity with GIS, AutoCAD, or environmental modeling tools


• Fieldwork experience


• Asbestos Sampling Experience

Travel Requirements

This position requires travel (0% - 20%) as part of its primary responsibilities.

• ONSITE: West Scramento, CA, Long Beach CA, Riverside, CA and Phoenix, AZ.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Combination of office and fieldwork


• Ability to travel to project sites and perform outdoor work in varying conditions
