Job summary

Frontier-Kemper Constructors, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking an Environmental Engineer for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project in White Plains, NY. This on-site role requires extensive EHS expertise in civil construction and compliance with NYS regulations.

Applicants must have a 10+ year track record in EHS on-site environments, and a QEP credential, OSHA HAZWOPER, and strong hazard and spill prevention experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, OSH, EHS, or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated EHS experience in construction environments.
• Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) credential recognized by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
• OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification
• Experience with hazardous waste management; chemical and petroleum storage; oil and chemical spill prevention and response plans; and remediation activities involving lead, PCBs, and asbestos.
• Working knowledge of stormwater management, soil management practices, and environmental permitting requirements

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental impact assessments and site evaluations related to civil construction projects.
• Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management plans (EMPs) to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.
• Monitor air, water, soil quality, and waste management on construction sites to prevent contamination and pollution.
• Perform environmental Inspections and prepare environmental reports, documentation, and permit applications required for construction projects.
• Identify potential environmental risks and provide recommendations for mitigation measures.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to environmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the development and delivery of environmental training programs for construction teams.
• Stay updated on environmental laws, regulations, and best practices related to civil construction.
• Support sustainability initiatives and the use of green technologies in construction projects.

Frontier-Kemper Constructors is the general contractor for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project. The scope of the approximately $1.1 billion contract entails the construction of a new deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet (CDUV) Light Disinfection Facility, both in Westchester County, New York. The new tunnel will provide an additional means of conveying water between the Kensico Reservoir and the CDUV Facility, enhancing operational resiliency and redundancy for New York City’s water supply system.

• Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) credential recognized by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC).
