Job summary

Nakupuna Services LLC is hiring an Environmental Engineer to provide engineering and technical support to the Environmental Engineering Branch at BEP WCF in Fort Worth, TX. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of environmental engineering or environmental compliance experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations for air emissions, hazardous waste and Texas industrial solid waste, wastewater, and chemical storage; familiarity with permitting and reporting processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals for environmental systems and APCDs.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental compliance tracking, recordkeeping, and reporting for air, water, and waste programs, including state and federal reports, inventories, and dashboards.
• Assist in preparation of regulatory deliverables such as annual waste summaries, air emissions inventories, wastewater self-monitoring reports, Tier II, TRI, and pollution prevention reports.
• Perform environmental inspections (CWAA, SAA, SPCC, APCDs, stormwater) and document findings and corrective actions.
• Support operation and maintenance of APCDs by monitoring parameters and assisting with troubleshooting.
• Assist in development and maintenance of environmental plans and procedures (SPCC, waste management, waste analysis, pollution prevention).
• Support ISO 14001 EMS by helping maintain documentation and preparing for audits.
• Perform data analysis and develop tracking tools for solvent use, waste generation, APCD uptime, and metrics.
• Coordinate training development and delivery for production and support personnel, maintaining training records.
• Coordinate with external laboratories for sample analysis and perform basic screening onsite as needed.
• Participate in incident and spill reporting and root cause analysis.

Overview

Nakupuna Companies is hiring Environmental Engineers to provide engineering and technical support to the Environmental Engineering Branch at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Western Currency Facility (BEP WCF) in Fort Worth, Texas. These positions support environmental compliance programs, APCD operations, wastewater and waste management, and facility-wide ISO 14001 Environmental Management System initiatives in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Environmental Engineers will perform environmental compliance calculations and reporting, support permitting and regulatory interfaces, conduct inspections, and provide engineering support for environmental control systems that protect workers, the public, and the environment.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental compliance tracking, recordkeeping, and reporting for air, water, and waste programs, including state and federal reports, inventories, and dashboards
• Assist in preparation of key regulatory deliverables such as TCEQ Annual Waste Summary, air emissions inventories, wastewater self-monitoring reports, Tier II, TRI, and pollution prevention reports
• Perform environmental inspections (CWAA, SAA, SPCC, APCDs, stormwater, visible emissions) in accordance with BEP procedures and regulatory requirements and document findings and corrective actions
• Support operation and maintenance of APCDs by monitoring operating parameters, assisting with troubleshooting and optimization, and ensuring permit conditions and monitoring requirements are met
• Assist in development, revision, and maintenance of environmental plans and procedures, including SPCC, waste management plans, waste analysis plans, pollution prevention plans, and waste handling procedures
• Support the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System by helping maintain EMS documentation, preparing for internal and external audits, and supporting management review processes
• Perform data analysis and develop tracking tools for solvent use, waste generation, APCD uptime, and environmental performance metrics
• Support environmental and transportation-related training development and delivery to production and support personnel; maintain training records
• Coordinate with external laboratories for sample analysis (wastewater, waste characterization) and perform basic screening in the onsite laboratory as needed
• Participate in incident and spill response reporting, including data collection for root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
• Perform other environmental engineering and compliance duties as assigned in support of the EESS PWS

Skills/Qualifications

• Working knowledge of environmental regulations and requirements for air emissions, hazardous waste and Texas industrial solid waste, wastewater, and chemical storage (EPA, TCEQ, and local requirements)
• Familiarity with environmental permitting and reporting processes, including calculations and data management
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals for environmental systems and APCDs
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data quality
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to summarize technical information for non-technical audiences
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety personnel
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with spreadsheets, databases, and data visualization tools

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant environmental engineering or environmental compliance experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting

Clearance

• You must maintain an active Public Trust/Confidential security clearance for continued employment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen

Location

• Work is performed on Government site at the BEP Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas, with work primarily during normal operating hours
• Occasional off-shift support may be required for inspections, maintenance activities, or environmental events

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in both office and industrial settings, including walking long distances on the production floor and climbing stairs or ladders for inspections
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and respiratory protection, as needed
