Job summary

The Environmental Educator – Programs at Butterfly Pavilion will deliver world-class onsite and outreach science education to learners across the Denver metro and at the Butterfly Pavilion. The role includes field trip classes, outreach programs, virtual learning, afterschool programs, community booths, and seasonal camps, with opportunities to represent the organization at community events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, environmental sciences, natural resources, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with school-aged children in camp, school, or childcare settings.
• Ability to work with diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance.
• Proof of up-to-date vaccinations as required by school districts in the service area.

Responsibilities

• Teach and facilitate interactive science education programs at Butterfly Pavilion and in schools, youth organizations, libraries, and via virtual learning.
• Lead afterschool programs independently with up to 15 children.
• Execute seasonal camps with a team of up to three educators for groups of up to 25 children.
• Safely transport and use live animals to demonstrate science concepts.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, caregivers, and group leaders to ensure a positive experience.
• Drive to outreach programs up to 250 miles round trip; mileage reimbursed.
