Job summary

City of Pleasanton’s Library and Recreation team is seeking a Recreation Leader III – Environmental Education Assistant to plan and deliver school field trips, tours of Alviso Adobe Community Park, and hands-on nature programs for elementary students.

You will work with staff, volunteers, and teachers to connect youth with Pleasanton’s local history, wildlife, and environmental education in a welcoming, safe setting, spanning indoor and outdoor activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in coordinating youth programs or recreational activities is preferred.
• Ability to present information clearly to children, parents, and teachers.
• Knowledge of local history, wildlife, and environmental education is desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and organize materials for activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead school field trips for elementary students at Alviso Adobe Community Park.
• Plan and deliver environmental education programs and family activities.
• Assist with tours, nature-based activities, and special events.
• Prepare materials, secure supplies, and set up/clean up activities.
• Provide friendly, welcoming interactions with participants and staff.
• Support facility operations and equipment management as assigned.
