Job summary

WSP is seeking an Environmental Data Analytics Specialist for its Redmond, WA or Seattle, WA offices. You will work within our Environment, Remediation, and Water Team to analyze data and support project goals.

You will manipulate data, maintain GIS layers, and help prepare technical reports while adhering to quality standards. Collaboration and clear communication are essential for success in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Natural Resources Management, Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or related field.
  • 0-1 year of experience in Environmental data.
  • Experience using ESRI's ArcGIS Pro (ArcMap, ArcCatalog).
  • Basic familiarity with database development and management (MS Access and/or EQuIS).
  • Basic familiarity with programming languages (Python, R, or Visual Basic).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Office, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Good organizational and written/oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, data management and analysis.
  • Develop or use automated data management processes across software environments.
  • Revise GIS layers and create new layers per standards.
  • Maintain quality control for accurate measurement and documentation.
  • Assist with basic environmental science work related to ecological systems, air and water resources.
  • Coordinate on multiple projects to keep them on time and budget.
  • Prepare technical documentation and execution plans.

Job description

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Environmental Data Analytics Specialist for our Redmond, WA or Seattle, WA offices. Be involved in projects with our Environment, Remediation, and Water Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Perform both geographic and non-geographic data manipulation, data management and analysis, and develop/use automated data management processes using a variety of software environments.
  • Revise existing GIS layers and create new layers following established standards and procedures
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation.
  • Assist with performing basic professional environmental science work relating to ecological systems, air, and water resources, assisting with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, with a commitment to keeping projects on time and within budget
  • Work in a production-oriented environment as part of a team
  • Prepare technical documentation of project requirements, procedures, execution, and implementation plans
  • Maintain metadata and best practices to support systems and data
  • Assist in the preparation of various analytical reports and monthly progress reports suitable for meetings
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Natural Resources Management, Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or a related science field.
  • 0-1 year of experience in Environmental data.
  • Experience using ESRI's ArcGIS Pro (ArcMap, ArcCatalog)
  • Basic familiarity with database development and management (using MS Access and/or EQuIS)
  • Basic familiarity with programming languages (for example Python, R, or Visual Basic)

  • Excellent analytical / problem-solving skills
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Basic proficiency with business writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
