Direct Counsel is seeking an Environmental Associate Attorney to join the Energy & Infrastructure practice of a prestigious Am Law firm. The position offers opportunities in major markets including Sacramento, with a focus on environmental counseling, permitting, project development, and transactional support for sophisticated clients in energy and infrastructure sectors.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in the appropriate U.S. state.
• 3-5 years of environmental law experience at a major firm or government agency.
• Experience advising on environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on federal and state environmental laws and regulations (CERCLA, NEPA, Clean Water Act, etc.).
• Support environmental aspects of mergers & acquisitions, project finance, and development matters.
• Assist with environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and due diligence.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, agreements, and related documents.
• Coordinate with environmental consultants and technical advisors on complex matters.
• Represent clients before federal and state regulatory agencies.
• Manage multiple client matters with practical, business-focused advice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on energy & infrastructure projects.
