Job summary

KBR in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and installation requirements. The role oversees Hazardous Waste, stormwater, and Hazardous Materials programs, and develops the organization’s EH&S plan.

You will train personnel, conduct EH&S audits, and coordinate with hazardous waste disposal vendors to remediate hazards. A minimum of three years in environmental compliance and knowledge of EMS are required; US citizenship,

Qualifications

  • BA degree in environmental engineering, health education or related field; combination of credits or training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Three years directly related work experience in a comparable discipline.
  • Ability to inspect or survey work areas, processes, or other systems, analyze findings, and develop corrective actions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, specifically the ability to write technical-related reports in a clear, concise format.
  • Working knowledge of industrial hygiene.
  • Knowledge of MPF program and its environmental needs and requirements.
  • Understanding safety and occupational health management principles, standards, and techniques.
  • US Citizenship; proof required.
  • Must possess or obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Valid state Driver's License; ability to obtain FBI record checks.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Summary And Responsibilities

The Environmental Coordinator reports directly to the MCMC HSE Manager and is directly responsible for coordinating MCMC compliance with federal, state, local, and installation requirements. The Environmental Coordinator must ensure compliance with the Hazardous Waste Program requirements; ensure compliance with environmental permits; ensure compliance with Stormwater Program requirements; and ensure compliance with Hazardous Materials (storage, handling, and reporting) requirements. Develops and ensures implementation of the organization’s Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) plan, ensures that personnel are trained in the proper response to environmental hazards, oversees environmental health & safety audits, and coordinates with hazardous waste disposal companies to remediate environmental hazards. The person in this position must be trained to adequately accomplish the following duties; ensure waste segregation and storage compatibility requirements are met; inspect and manage satellite accumulation areas; ensure only authorized personnel add waste to containers; and ensure MCMC personnel are trained in 40 CFR requirements in accordance with their position requirements. The Environmental Coordinator shall have a minimum of three years’ experience in the environmental compliance field and environmental procedures similar to those of this contract and familiarity with the Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

Qualifications
  • BA degree in environmental engineering, health education or related field. In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Three years directly related work experience in a comparable discipline.

  • Working knowledge of the MPF program and its diverse safety and Environmental needs and requirements.
  • Application and knowledge of the principles, standards, and techniques of safety and occupational health management.
  • Working knowledge of the pertinent elements of engineering, physical science, ergonomics, psychology, industrial hygiene, physiology, and other scientific and technological fields which contribute to the achievement of comprehensive safety and occupational health objectives.
  • Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
  • US Citizen. Proof required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Valid state Motor Vehicle Operator License.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain a finding of ‘NO RECORD’ on the FBI Police Record Investigation.
