Job summary

State of Tennessee is seeking an Environmental Consultant within the Division of Water Resources for the West Tennessee Region, Jackson area. Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental science, physical sciences, ecology, sustainability or related field and three years of professional environmental work.
  • Substitution: health physics or nuclear engineering degree may substitute for one year of experience in Radiological Health.
  • Must possess valid driver's license in some positions.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conducts or oversees inspections, investigations, remediation, and compliance monitoring for environmental regulations.
  • Reviews and analyzes technical information to ensure accurate methodologies and compliance with standards.
  • Prepares permits, reports and technical analyses in a concise, legally defensible manner.
  • Assists with development or revision of regulations, SOPs and policies; provides guidance to staff and stakeholders.
  • Builds teams, mentors staff and provides recommendations for professional growth.
  • Maintains and calibrates environmental measurement equipment and related tools.
