Job summary

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. seeks a full-time Environmental Compliance Manager to lead our Hampton Roads Environmental Compliance Department, focusing on growth, staff development, and expanding project portfolios in residential, commercial, utility, and transportation developments.

Responsibilities include overseeing operations, SWPPP development, and coordination with agencies. The role requires strong PM skills, leadership, and travel ability, with opportunities across The Davey Tree

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years in NPDES/VPDES compliance inspections and reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of Virginia General VPDES Stormwater Management Program and CGP requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of Virginia Water Protection (VWP) Permit and Virginia State Water Control Law.
  • Virginia’s Qualified Personnel (QP) Certification.
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills.
  • Proven business development and networking ability.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with diverse public and private clients.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally out of state, including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee department operations, including stormwater inspections and reporting (VPDES/NPDES).
  • Develop and audit SWPPP documentation.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies on wetlands, erosion, sediment control, and stormwater compliance.
  • Manage project scheduling, budgeting, and billing.
  • Prepare proposals with scope, fees, and RFP responses.
  • Provide internal training, mentoring, and SOP implementation.
  • Collaborate with WSSI and Davey departments as needed.
