Job summary

Canacre is seeking an Environmental Compliance Inspector to monitor construction activities for permit compliance, SWPPP adherence, and environmental protections. You will oversee resource protection, document findings, and coordinate with contractors and inspectors to ensure regulatory alignment.

Ideal candidates bring a degree in Environmental Science and 5+ years in environmental management, with certifications such as CPESC/CESCL.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Environmental Science or related field.
5+ years of professional experience in environmental management, compliance and SWPPP inspection.
Minimum 1 year in utilities construction; NEPA or state-level regulatory projects.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
SWPPP or spill prevention-related training/certification (CPESC/CESCL/NYSESCCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

Monitor construction activities and inspect sites for compliance with permits and approvals.
Oversee SWPPP implementation and erosion control measures.
Identify and protect environmentally sensitive resources on project sites.
Coordinate with field personnel and government inspectors to resolve issues.
Document compliance actions and prepare daily/weekly reports.
Inform stakeholders of potential violations and coordinate corrective actions.
Assist in determining stop-work actions when conditions are violated.
Maintain records of restoration activities and permit compliance.
