Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking a Claim Specialist for Environmental Claims in North America. The role focuses on investigating, evaluating, and resolving complex environmental claims across AXIS-issued policies, coordinating with internal teams and external counsel to drive outcome-driven resolutions.

You will manage reserves, assess coverage, and advise on litigation strategy for long-tail exposure, with opportunities to participate in industry events and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience handling environmental, pollution, toxic tort, construction defect, casualty, or other complex liability claims.
• Strong understanding of coverage, liability, damages, reserving, litigation management, and settlement evaluation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders across legal, underwriting, and brokers.

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental claims to determine coverage, liability, damages, and appropriate strategy.
• Manage inventory of primary and excess environmental claims including pollution and remediation.
• Investigate facts, evaluate policy terms, and coordinate with coverage counsel as needed.
• Establish reserves based on liability, damages, and litigation posture.
• Collaborate with defense counsel, experts, vendors, and insureds to drive resolution.
• Develop strategies for complex, high-exposure claims and monitor costs.
