Job summary

Barclay Damon LLP seeks an experienced Environmental and Natural Resources Attorney for Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Rochester, or Syracuse offices. The candidate will handle matters across the Northeast, with emphasis on project permitting and NEPA/SEQRA.

A NY State Bar admission or eligibility to waive is required, and 4–8 years of environmental law experience is expected. Experience with Superfund/CERCLA, CWA, CAA, ESA, MBTA, and interfacing with USEPA, USACE, USFWS, NYSDEC is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in New York State or eligible to waive into the New York State Bar.
• 4–8 years of experience with environmental law, including project permitting and siting (NEPA and SEQRA).
• Experience with environmental statutes including Superfund/CERCLA, CWA, CAA, ESA, MBTA, and NYS environmental law, and interfacing with agencies such as USEPA, USACE, USFWS, and NYSDEC.
• Experience in energy sector and with wildlife and endangered species is a plus.

Environmental and Natural Resources Attorney (Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Rochester, or Syracuse)

Barclay Damon LLP, a leading regional law firm of approximately 300 attorneys that operates from a strategic platform of offices located in the Northeastern United States, Washington DC, and Toronto, is seeking an experienced environmental law attorney for its Environmental Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work with experienced practitioners on matters throughout the Northeast.

Candidates must be licensed to practice in New York State or eligible to waive into the New York State Bar and should have four to eight years of experience and capabilities in project permitting and siting, including NEPA and SEQRA, transactional due diligence, and compliance and enforcement matters. Candidates should have experience with environmental statutes including Superfund/CERCLA, CWA, CAA, ESA, MBTA, and the New York State Environmental Conservation Law as well as experience interfacing with resource agencies that include USEPA, USACE, USFWS, and NYSDEC.

Experience in the energy industry and with wildlife and rare, threatened, and endangered species would be a plus.

This salary range represents the firm’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for the position and does not include performance- or merit-based bonuses or other benefits offered by the firm. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, skill set, and office location.
