Job summary

Nathan L. Jacobson & Associates is seeking a full-time Environmental Analyst in Connecticut to support municipal and agency clients with stormwater compliance, reporting, inspections, and SMP development.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, possess strong writing skills, and be proficient with MS Office. Field work requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to safely access sites in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Natural Resources, Geology or a related field.
  • Knowledge of stormwater regulations and environmental compliance programs.
  • Strong technical writing and report preparation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to safely negotiate project sites in variable weather and seasonal conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and management of CTDEEP MS4 stormwater permit requirements.
  • Assist municipalities with compliance programs, annual reporting, public education, illicit discharge detection and elimination (IDDE), construction stormwater management, post-construction stormwater management and good housekeeping initiatives.
  • Conduct stormwater facility inspections and compliance evaluations at municipal, industrial, and commercial sites.
  • Prepare and maintain Stormwater Management Plans (SMPs).
  • Coordinate/conduct stormwater sampling, monitoring, and data management activities.
  • Prepare permit applications, compliance reports, technical memoranda, and regulatory submissions.
  • Track permit requirements, deadlines, and regulatory changes.
  • Communicate directly with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct solo field investigations and drainage system assessments.
  • Support environmental compliance projects and related water quality initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Natural Resources, Geology or a related field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Preferred
  • Experience with CTDEEP Stormwater General Permit and SMP development.
  • Experience with compliance and reporting.
  • Familiarity with EPA and state stormwater regulations.
  • Experience conducting environmental inspections and field assessments.
  • GIS experience (ArcGIS or similar platforms).
  • Professional certifications related to stormwater management or environmental compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
