Job summary

Terracon is seeking an Acoustics / Noise Consultant to join our environmental practice in the United States. This mid-level role focuses on delivering high-quality acoustics work across renewable energy, transportation, and industrial projects, and spans planning, design, noise monitoring, modeling, permitting, public outreach, expert witness support, and post-construction studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in environmental acoustics and noise consulting.
• Strong working knowledge of acoustical measurement techniques, noise modeling, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with SoundPlan, CadnaA, TNM, spreadsheets, GIS, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.
• Experience supporting projects and interacting with clients.
• Proficiency in preparing clear, concise technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage acoustics and noise projects from proposal through completion, delivering projects on schedule and within scope and budget.
• Conduct environmental noise studies, sound level monitoring, modeling, and impact assessments.
• Apply and interpret federal, state, and local noise regulations and guidance.
• Prepare technical reports, permit support documentation, and client-facing presentations.
• Support business development through client engagement, proposal development, and technical marketing.
• Contribute technical Expertise and support knowledge sharing across project teams.
• Collaborate with Terracon environmental, engineering, and construction teams on integrated solutions.
• Participate in QA/QC processes and support implementation of best practices.
