Job summary

Charles Stewart Mott Foundation’s Environment program seeks a program director in Flint, Michigan to lead a 10-year plan across One Water, Finance for Sustainability, and Land, Water and People of the Amazon Basin. The role combines grantmaking oversight, staff development, external partnerships, travel, and close collaboration with leadership and trustees to translate strategy into durable results.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in land, water, conservation or related environmental work.
• Ability to understand complex policy and programmatic issues and steward a broad portfolio.
• Experience managing a portfolio of grants and private philanthropy is beneficial.
• Willingness to travel regularly domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall oversight of Environment program grantmaking and ensure alignment with strategy and policies.
• Review and approve grant recommendations and related materials with high standards.
• Build relationships with grantees, partners and staff to maintain program substance.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff across geographically distributed teams.
• Represent the Foundation with credibility and discretion in external settings.
