Job summary

Yulista Solutions LLC is seeking an experienced EHS Coordinator to lead the on-site environmental, health, and safety activities for the AOS task area at NASA AFRC.   • Ensure incidents, near misses, and safety observations are documented, investigated, and reported.
  • Coordinate waste disposal and EMS documentation; support ISO 14001 alignment.
  • Lead EHS training programs and maintain comprehensive training records.
  • Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives; drive policy updates.
  • Act as on-site incident response focal point and assist during emergencies.

Yulista Solutions LLC Regular Primary Function

Reports to the AOS Site Lead and serves as the on-site authority for all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) activities supporting the Aircraft Operations Support (AOS) task area at NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC). Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Contractor’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Plan (SHEMP) and ensuring compliance with NASA, FAA, OSHA, and AS9100/9110 requirements. Promotes a proactive safety culture that protects personnel, equipment, and the environment while supporting mission readiness.

Essential Duties
  • Safety Program Management Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety and Health Plan (SHEMP) as required by the PWS and NASA AFRC Safety Office.
  • Oversee all site safety and environmental programs, including confined space, lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE, hazardous materials, and emergency preparedness.
  • Conduct regular facility and worksite inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues; develop and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Ensure all incidents, near misses, and safety observations are properly documented, investigated, and reported per NASA and Yulista procedures.
  • Environmental Compliance Implement programs ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including hazardous waste handling, spill response, recycling, and pollution prevention.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS) and ensure accessibility to all personnel.
  • Coordinate waste disposal and ensure compliance with EPA and AFRC environmental requirements.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of Environmental Management System (EMS) documentation in accordance with ISO 14001 principles.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 standards and NASA-specific occupational health requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs) for maintenance, inspection, and modification activities.
  • Monitor industrial hygiene programs, including hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and hazardous materials exposure control.
  • Verify that all required medical surveillance and fitness-for-duty evaluations are current.
  • Training and Awareness Coordinate with the Training Manager to develop, schedule, and deliver safety-related training programs (e.g., confined space, fall protection, hazardous communication, PPE, and first aid/CPR).
  • Maintain comprehensive EHS training records and ensure personnel remain current on required certifications.
  • Promote awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs to reinforce proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Incident Response and Emergency Preparedness Serve as the on-site focal point for incident and emergency response; maintain readiness to coordinate with NASA and base emergency services.
  • Develop and test emergency action plans (fire evacuation, hazardous spill containment, aircraft mishap response).
  • Participate in and support NASA-led emergency drills and mishap investigations.
  • Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement Track and report EHS metrics, leading indicators, and performance trends to the AOS Site Lead and Program Manager.
  • Support EHS portions of internal and external audits (NASA, OSHA, AS9100/9110).
  • Recommend updates to policies, procedures, and equipment to mitigate risks and improve safety performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives consistent with Yulista's "People First, Mission Ready" safety philosophy.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities While this role may not have direct reports, the EHS Coordinator provides functional oversight and guidance to all AOS personnel, including Yulista employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Collaborates closely with the Training Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, and Maintenance Manager to ensure sitewide adherence to all EHS policies and procedures.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep understanding of OSHA, EPA, NASA, and DoD safety and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100/9110 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Experience developing and implementing EHS programs in aircraft maintenance, modification, or industrial operations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to foster engagement across all workforce levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems; experience using incident-tracking databases.
  • Skilled in risk assessment, hazard analysis, and corrective/preventive action management.
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for management and Government customers.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field; equivalent military or technical experience accepted.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible EHS experience, including 3 years in an aerospace, manufacturing, or maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of NASA Safety and Health Plan (SHEMP) requirements and FAA/NASA mishap investigation procedures.
  • Security: Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Other: Must pass background check and drug screening; ability to respond to after-hours incidents and emergencies.
  • Certifications (preferred): Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) OSHA 30-Hour General Industry HAZWOPER (40-hour) or equivalent hazardous materials training ISO 14001/45001 internal auditor certification desirable.
  • Working Environment: A fast paced multi-tasking customer service oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities. Overtime may be required.
The pay range for this role is $62,752.39 - $94,128.58 USD Annual
