Job summary

Hill Crest Behavioral Health in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Environmental Services / House Keeper to perform cleaning and laundry tasks in a medical facility. You will follow established routines under the Environmental Service Manager and Plant Operations Director, with emphasis on patient care environment and safety.

Must have availability for an 8-day orientation 8a-4p, prior EVS experience in a medical setting, and pass background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and laundry tasks per established routines.
• Maintain facility and equipment under supervision of the Environmental Service Manager and Plant Operations Director.
• Contribute to an excellent total facility appearance and safety.
• Follow safety procedures while performing all tasks.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor machines, auto scrubbers, vacuums and related tools.

Responsibilities

Environmental Services / House Keeper

MUST HAVE availability to attend an 8- business day Orientation from 8a-4p without interruptions.

Responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and laundry tasks in accordance with established work routines and under the directions of the Environmental Service Manager. Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the routine upkeep, maintenance and repair to the physical plant, building, grounds and equipment. These tasks are performed under the general direction of the Plant Operations Director. Responsible for working to achieve excellence in total facility appearance. Responsible for working within safety structures while performing all tasks.

• The ability to read and implement written instructions and the ability to understand and implement oral instructions.
• Knowledge in routine maintenance and complete floor care at a medical facility, including but not limited to carpeting, painting, masonry, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration, general mechanics, and gardening.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, climb a 6-foot ladder, lift up to 75 pounds and to withstand the physical strains from the use of all required equipment.
• Ability to measure the proper solutions as related to the specific task.
• Ability to operate the floor machine, auto scrubber, vacuum, extraction equipment, washer, and dryer, lawn mowers, other gardening equipment and any other equipment necessary to perform the assigned task.
• Basic Computer skills

Qualifications

• Valid HS Diploma/GED Required.
• Previous Environmental Services / House Keeper experience in a medical environment required.
• Maintains facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition.
• Responsible for daily disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials.
• Must handle various cleaning solvents and chemicals in accordance with established safety regulations.
• Uses safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
• Assists with housekeeping duties as necessary or assigned.
• Performs all other duties as required or assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Sits, stands, bends, kneels, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
