Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner - Transmission to join the Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team in the Midwest. The role leads environmental planning, SEPA/NEPA work, and permitting for energy projects across regional transmission, grid modernization, and renewable developments.

You will manage client relationships, pursue opportunities, and mentor staff while expanding AECOM's energy permitting portfolio across the Midwest and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, environmental science, geography, natural resources, or related field.
• 6 years of relevant experience in electric transmission and renewable energy.
• Ability to travel for agency/client meetings, as needed.
• A valid driver’s license is required, with ability to pass MVR check.
• US Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental planning and compliance efforts for energy infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate filings with state utility regulatory agencies and public service commissions.
• Manage early-stage due diligence for siting energy projects.
• Provide project management on mid- to large-sized projects: schedules, budgets, invoicing.
• Work on environmental documents and entitlements for energy sector projects.
• Support projects across the Midwest and other U.S. markets via national platforms.
