Job summary

Davidson Technologies, Inc. is seeking an entry-level MBSE Software Systems Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to design, develop, and deploy software for national defense programs.

You will work with Air Force teams to implement SysML models, traceability from mission needs to verification, and interface definitions across software and hardware systems. The role emphasizes MBSE concepts, model-based requirements management, and collaboration with systems, software, and hardware engineers.

Qualifications

• 0 to 2 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or related discipline. Four (4) years of additional systems engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Foundational knowledge of the DoD systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, decomposition, architecture, interface definition, integration, and verification and validation.
• Foundational knowledge of MBSE methodologies and SysML, with the ability to develop, interpret, and maintain basic system models.
• Understanding of model-based requirements management, system structure, behavior, interfaces, allocations, traceability, and verification relationships.
• Exposure to MBSE and systems engineering tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, IBM DOORS/DOORS Next, or similar environments.
• Foundational understanding of software and systems architecture, including software-to-software and software-to-hardware interfaces and ICDs.
• Ability to translate high-level mission and system-level requirements into system functions, architectures, software requirements, interfaces, and user stories.
• Foundational understanding of software development lifecycles utilizing Agile and SAFe methodologies.
• Understanding of requirements traceability and the relationship between requirements, architecture, design, implementation, integration, and verification/validation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes customer requirements and CONOPS to develop and maintain system requirements specifications using MBSE.
• Develops SysML-based system models to represent requirements, structure, behavior, interfaces, and verification relationships.
• Leads design and development activities using model-based methods to establish traceability from mission needs through requirements and verification.
• Guides users and stakeholders in refining requirements and conducts feasibility and trade studies using analytical and model-based techniques.
• Provides technical leadership for integration of requirements, architecture, design, interfaces, technology, and verification within MBSE.
• Develops and maintains system architecture models (functional, logical, physical, behavioral, interfaces) per modeling standards.
• Defines and manages system interfaces and ICDs, and supports development and maintenance of interface relationships.
• Establishes traceability across requirements, architecture, design, and verification within engineering models.
• Incorporates new plans and capabilities into operations while maintaining model consistency and configuration integrity.
• Develops technical documentation (architecture, design, requirements, interfaces, trade studies, verification) leveraging MBSE artifacts.
• Guides SE planning through SEMPs, system integration plans, and verification and test plans.
• Collaborates with Systems Architects, Software Engineers, Product Owners, hardware engineers to resolve issues and risks.
• Supports model-based integration and verification activities to link requirements to test objectives.
• Applies MBSE best practices across the lifecycle for reuse, configuration management, and technical baselines.
• Holds technical accountability for integrity and quality of MBSE deliverables within the area.
