Job summary

Dakota Bodies Llc in Watertown, SD is hiring an Entry-Level Welder to join our fabrication team. No welding experience required as comprehensive training is provided to help you become proficient in welding, fitting, and assembling metal/steel utility bodies.

You will work with experienced welders, read blueprints, maintain safety and quality standards, and progress through hands-on instruction on a 1st or 2nd shift with incentive of an extra $2/hour on the evening shift.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain quality requirements and follow company guidelines with a Stop and Fix mindset.
• Follow 5S and safety standards; keep a clean work area.
• Read blueprints/d drawings and plan layout; set up components for welding.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces for flaws; ensure safe operation.
• Maintain welding equipment and assist team welders to ensure efficient completion.

As an Entry-Level Welder, you will play a crucial role in assisting our experienced welders, inspecting welds, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.Hours Available:1st Shift: 6am - 4:30pm2nd Shift: 4:25pm - 2:55am (earn additional $2/hour)Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain all company Quality requirements and follow company guidelines utilizing a “Stop and Fix” mindset.Maintain a clean environment and follow company 5S + Safety Standards.Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and proceduresDetermine the appropriate welding equipment, settings, and methods based on requirementsSet up components for welding according to specificationsOperate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be weldedAlign components using fixtures, tape measure, levels, speed square, etc. and clamp piecesWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)Prepare utility bodies and other components by welding pieces and filling gapsTest and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flawsMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyAssist other welders in the completing of work to ensure work is completed as efficiently as possibleMaintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Fast-paced environmentAbility to lift 50 lbs. and work awkwardly while bending, stooping, kneeling, or standing to work overhead for 10 hrs.Requirements:No prior welding experience is required; comprehensive training will be provided.Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and working in awkward positions.If you are ready to kick-start your career in welding and contribute to a dynamic team, apply now!
