Job summary

GPD Group is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Ohio/Kentucky offices, based in Columbus, OH. You will work with communities on stream and river restoration, dam removals, and green infrastructure, contributing to projects that reduce flood risk and improve ecological function.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, planners, and environmental specialists to deliver design and construction documents, assess streams, and support field investigations across watershed projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 1–5 years’ experience in ecological restoration and project coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to work in field and assess streams.
• CAD/Civil 3D knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

Role Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field.
• Minimum of 1-5 years’ experience in ecological restoration and project coordination.
• Ability to work with senior engineers/designers and meet respective deadlines.
• Must possess excellent communication skills and thrive in a multi-tasking work environment.
• Desire to work in the field and assess streams.
• CAD/Civil 3D knowledge preferred.
• Proficiency in grading channels and sites preferred.
• Understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and open channel flow principles.
• Knowledge or desire to advance skills in stream morphology, fluvial geomorphology, sediment transport, and bank stabilization techniques.
• Knowledge or desire to advance skills in natural channel design and nature-based restoration solutions.
• Ability to effectively assist in developing estimates and budgets.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with GIS software preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Project Design Engineer with 7+ years of industry experience in the Federal, Retail/Commercial, Educational (PK-12 and Higher Ed.), and Healthcare spaces.
• PE License required.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support field investigations, geomorphic assessments, and construction oversight
• Support grading and corridor development.
• Support design and construction document development for ecological restoration projects
• Design coordination with internal design team.
• Collaborate with our internal team of surveyors, H&H modelers, environmental specialists, and geotechnical crew.
• Supporting the team in other civil engineering project types, including parks and public infrastructure.
• Other job duties as assigned.
