Qualifications

• Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of work safety principles.
• Knowledge of techniques, equipment, and supplies used in solid waste collection.
• Knowledge of city geography including street names and locations.
• Knowledge of traffic safety.
• Knowledge and skill in operation and maintenance of lawn care equipment.
• Skill in operation of assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Collects containerized, bagged, or spilled garbage or recyclables on an assigned route and loads into the packer truck.
• Removes spilled garbage, trash, or debris from curbs, streets, and rights-of-way.
• Operates packing device on the truck and assists with unloading at landfill or transfer station.
• Assists drivers with backing or turning and with recycling center operations as needed.
• Prepares required reports and ensures cans are emptied safely.
