Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Entry-Level Civil/Rail Engineer to join our Transportation team in New York City, working on rail infrastructure projects and transportation structures. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to translate theory into practical design under professional mentorship.

Responsibilities

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking an Entry-Level Civil/ Rail Engineer to join our Transportation team in New York City, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients’ challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our Rail and Transit clients; including planning, design, and execution of rail infrastructure projects.

In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will work on Rail Stations and transportation structure construction projects. Projects range from extending and renovating existing facilities to developing new alignments, depots, and stations.

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic. You’ll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.

Here’s what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Course work related to transportation
  • Previous design intern experience
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (Microstation/Inroads or AutoCAD/Civil 3D)
  • Ability to utilize design manuals, as needed.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

The base salary range for this position is $66,100.00 to $90,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
